The 21st High-Level Meeting Between the Japan Coast Guard and the Korea Coast Guard ~Strengthening Japan-Korea Inter-Agency Coordination and Cooperation~

The 21st High-Level Meeting Between the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) and the Korea Coast Guard (KCG) was held on Wednesday, December 10, in Incheon, Republic of Korea.
From the JCG, Commandant SEGUCHI Yoshio attended the meeting, and from the KCG, Commissioner General KIM Yong-jin participated.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening collaboration and cooperation between the two agencies.

1.Background

Since the first high-level meeting between JCG and KCG in1999, during which both agencies agreed to enhance future collaboration and cooperation, as well as to conduct regular mutual visits by both heads of these organizations, the high-level meeting has generally been held once a year.

3. Summary

  • Both sides reaffirmed that cooperative relationship between the two agencies plays a vital role in ensuring safety and security in the surrounding waters, and expressed high appreciation for the recent exchanges and collaborative efforts.
  • Both sides agreed to further enhance collaboration and cooperation through exchange at all levels and joint exercise between regional units, including continued high-level meetings.
